We left my cousin and me in January 2007 for the Dominican Republic. We bought our trip through Expedia on the Internet for the first time. We had booked Santana Beach in Punta Cana but looking at it right on the Internet and reading all the bad reviews of people on the beach full of bees and bugs, we decided to call dispatched to change the hotel especially after seeing a photo of a tarantula in the entrance hall on the internet. Bark!
We had to choose a hotel that was available the same day of departure and Expedia has moved. We therefore opted for the Tropical Princess. There were errors on the part of Expedia and we began to seriously regret having purchased via the Internet. Fortunately, it all came together.
We've had problems at the airport in Montreal. We boarded the plane Sunwing, back, waited 25 minutes because there was a light that flashed in the driver's cab. Then they told us that we should wait until the engine warms up before going on the track. We're back for another park we wait 35 minutes. We finally departed for better now ... after 30 minutes of flight, returning to Montreal for the little light had turned back!
We're off the plane with a Transit for 40 minutes. Finally, we boarded the same plane SUNWING to get to your destination but we were scared to every little noise!
With all this, we arrived very late. The hotel was great, the temperature always between 29 and 31 degrees Celsius. This hotel is a hotel ITALIAN one side and the other International. We, we had the Italian side and the Italians are treated with kid gloves if you have the bracelet for it obviously! There are GO for the Italian side and others to the international side. GO The Italian can not eat with other people that Italian customers! Weird but that's how they work.
House
No sound hacker in our room, we were very happy d’être au 2e étage. Notre chambre était très grande! Nous avions même une partie avec 2 sofas (qui nous on servis de garde-robe même si nous en avions 2 aussi haha) Nous avions aussi 2 salle de bain dont une avec un bain et l’autre avec une douche! Super pratique et toujours avec de l’eau chaude! Les cartes magnétiques pour entrer servent aussi comme clef pour l’air climatisé. Je vous conseil de toujours prendre la même clef pour l’air climatisé car cela démagnétise la clef à l’intérieur et si vous la prenez pour sortir vous risqué d’avoir a retourner au lobby pour en chercher une autre.
Pour cet hôtel, il n’y a pas beaucoup Rooms with ocean view, but other rooms have all or almost a pool view as ours.
The rooms are located is approximately 10 minutes walk from the lobby. We often walked to get there, that we did our fitness walking. The landscape is very beautiful despite only place you can smell the sewer for 1 minute. There are sections, fish etc ... Otherwise, you can choose to wait for the little golf carts that often walk the site to pick up people.
We were never bothered by noise. Several said that this hotel was deemed for cockroaches, we have not seen one! Little trick to keep your air conditioning at night and open a small light somewhere. (We have not done that but there are people who worked on that thing).
Lobby
What about the lobby ... wow, very tall and full of mellow couch! We really liked a drink there and relax. There is always a good wind that blows and it feels like home! This is the only place where we saw two little spiders.
Pools
There are several swimming pools and there are parts which slopes gently to very practical children. Between each hotel you will find a swimming pool. There were aqua-form in our pool around 11 am
Beach The beach is beautiful, despite a bit of seaweed on the sand. The sand is fine and quite pale in color. We have not done a lot of beach because there was not enough free mattress to hide from the sun. We opted for the pool. If you're up around 7:30 or 8:00, you good chance to put your towels on the backs of chairs for the book before you go to lunch. . In the evening you can go to party on the beach. Sometimes there is music and everything world dance is really fun!
Activities
There's volleyball, tennis, massage on the beach available. There are women who also braids on the beach under a small bench. Take excursions directly with your representative there. There was also a competition where you could enter to win I do not know what but we refrained.
Excursion
We did the tour of the natural beach of Saona. CAUTION, you are at least 2:30 almost 3 hour drive by bus before getting us there and we had not been warned. You will a speed boat to get to a place to snorkel. This is not the most beautiful place in the world to do but you see some kinds of fish. Then you re-embark in the boat to get to the natural beach which is close to a real beach so NO we do not feel in the middle of nowhere because we see the edge of the water with palm trees. We saw only a sea star and we're a little disappointed. I measure 5P4 and I had water in the neck and the current is strong enough. Thereafter, you will eat and relax on a beach and finally start on a catamaran.
Food
when I still turista I go into the south so I am not a reference but I can tell you that I was on pills all week and this, eating only bread, dessert, spaghetti and omelettes in the morning. I took a pina colada for my trip and I did not eat fruit. Even being careful, I still had so bring yourself in case of Imodium!
The buffet is large enough and every day we offer a theme, such as Chinese, you will have a section with more Chinese Chinese biscuits etc.. I can say I ate at the buffet.
Restaurant
We were not in Chinese restaurant because it seems that yn'y had nothing good in there. Example, the legs of octopus photographed by a friend there. I believe we must also pay to go to this restaurant.
We tried the pancake house where they serve ice cream and pancakes all day almost.
The restaurant next to the pancake which I forget the name, it is exactly the same as the buffet, except they serve you at your table and the meat is roasted on the grill and brought to your plate by waiters but you still went to the small buffet restaurant search for your salad and dessert.
There is also the Mexican restaurant. I think also you have to pay to eat there. We have not tested it but it seems that it was good but nothing more.
Disco
It is very close to the lobby, sometimes if you show your wristband for free they let you past if it costs $ 5 U.S.
Finally, $ 1,200 for 1 week trip, I found this Travel peaceful enough, we often watched movies inside in the evening (post free movies 24/24 but sometimes for 3 minutes they put an ad over the blue movie, you do qu’à attendre un peu et la pub disparaîtra et vous pourrez continuer à regarder votre film.) car les spectacles n’était pas très bon malgré la bonne volonté des comédiens. C’est peut-être nous qui sommes rendu trop habituées au spectacle du sud mais nous en avons écouté juste 1.
Finalement, un très beau voyage mais je n’y retournerais peut-être pas nécessairement car j’aime bien essayer de nouveaux endroits. Aucun mauvais mots sur l’hôtel mais faite seulement attention quand vous apporter des verres de jus ou de boisson dans votre chambre, le soir videz-les dans le lavabos et versez de l’eau dessus pour ne pas avoir trop de fourmis. If you do not keep food in your room, you'll only have 2 or 3 a day which is quite normal.
